Mardi Gras!

Here's the FINAL layout!!!

Now...
Let me tell you the journey...

It was a family affair!

My husband didn't like the red in the
 original design...
so...
I did what
EVERY
good wife would do...

The original layout

 OUT went the red!

In came
PURPLE!
(And a new layout)

Then...

(Well, let me just say,
I had been sending my
daughter pictures
and
she loved
every design layout!)

My son...

I asked his opinion.
He said it was laid out
ALL wrong!
HAHAHA!

He rearranged it...

to THIS!

He has a keen eye!

Don't you LOVE IT!!!
Then red beads were added!

LOVE IT!!!
LOVE IT!!!

So,
this was totally
a
 family affair!!!

The
ONLY
way to be!!!

Thank you
to my
PRECIOUS
family!!!
I AM
who I am
Because of YOU!!!

A little Birthday FUN!

Today is my birthday...
so I' taking a break from the blocks for the weekend.

I had a AMAZING inspiration last night!
OH MY!
And it didn't hit me until 10pm...ugh!

You know what that means...
I didn't get to bed until almost midnight!
(And then I couldn't rest!)

But I've been racking my brain for weeks....
What do I do with this challenge fabric?!?!

I have a fat quarter of a specific fabric.

I have to use a recognizable amount
in a quilt
no larger than 30x30.

This fabric is fun and festive,
but in all greys.

I've used the entire fat quarter...
What do you think?
I'm calling it
Mardi Gras!

I like where it's going...
I still have to figure out the red one...
I need to add a fun fabric in there...
it's too plain!
I really like it!
But it doesn't fit in.

The CHALLENGE fabric?
Guess!
Yep!
The grey one in each of the circles!
It's fun...
But VOID of color!
I had to surround it with color
to give it LIFE!!!

I LOVE the colors, too!!!

I hope you join me in making this quilt this summer!!!

Paper Pieced project

Here it is!

This is BLOCK 1!

There are 12 BEAUTIFUL blocks!!!

I will be teaching this as a
BLOCK of the MONTH
and
we'll start in June or July.

The quilt shop I'll be teaching through is:

Block Therapy
4353B Gautier VanCleave Rd.
Gautier, MS  39553
228-202-1493
Joan is the owner
(WONDERFUL lady!!!!)

Joan is happy to ship monthly BOM kits to you, if you live out of town!
OR
If you'd like the whole kit,
she's happy to send it ALL at once!

BLOCK 1

BLOCK 2

BLOCK 3

These are SO much fun to do!!!

Yes, there are 12 sections to
EVERY
block!

BUT...

It's not so bad!
You can do all the "A" blocks at once,
Then all the "B" blocks!
It goes fast!

AND...

It's so much fun to see it finished!

Aren't they FUN?!?!?!

The background is dark blue.
But you can change that if you like!
Joan will go with whatever you like!
We thought the dark blue would make the blocks
REALLY POP!!!

So,
come join me on this EXTREMELY FUN journey!

I LOVE sharing with others my quilting passion!!!
I teach at quilt guilds!
I teach at quilt shops!
I teach at retreats!
Let's have LOADS fun!

The Vase!

I've wanted to do a portrait quilt for a long time!

Here is my trial run!

A VASE!

And if I messed it up, I could have always thrown it out!
HA!

Not bad, though...

Huh?

I laid my vase on a green folder...it's looks funny, sorry!

This process was simpler than I thought it would be!

And SO much FUN!!!

I used 7 graduated colors, some were quite a jump!
But it looks fine!
Some fabrics were solid, some fabrics were died...
But it looks fine!
This shows me I can use any fabric!
The gradation doesn't have to be slight, it can be a bit of a jump!
The fabrics don't have to all solid, all hand died, all commercial!
You can do what you want!!!

I can't wait to make the portrait now!

IDEA!

I am teaching a paper pieced block of the month starting in July.

(This will be at an amazing quilt shop I teach at a lot.)

Would you like for me to do it on this blog as well?

You can sign up at Block Therapy
(228)-202-1493
They will ship any where!

I'll take some pictures tonight a post it tomorrow!

I'm back!

Well...let's just say January was a rough month!

I'm sorry not to have blogged in so long! My January was insane!!!
Here's a little of how my month went...
Had to finish 4 memory quilts for my daughter's boyfriend and sisters.
Had to go there for the weekend to deliver and present them, (which, of course, I enjoyed!).
2 cars of ours wouldn't start.
Had them towed to the shop.
My son's truck engine brackets broke, and his engine was sitting on the oil pan, which was sitting on the frame.
It went in the shop.
The handle on the microwave came off.
One of the springs on the garage door came off.
The washing machine started leaking.
The oven tried to burn down my house! This was fun...it's not on a breaker inside the house, so we unplugged it...Thank goodness it's a down draft and the plug is easy to get to!!!!
Let's see...what else...
Oh please, let me just stop there!!!!
I'm glad to be past all that!

I'm working on some really fun things!  I'll post pictures when I get my computer back...oh, that's something else, my computer crashed.  I'm on a little tablet.
I'm working on a paper pieced project I'll be teaching as a block of the month starting June!  I'm also getting back to my 50 shades of pink quilt! Would love to get this in my local quilt show in April!

Anyway, no pictures today...I love adding pictures!

Keep quilting!
And thanks for being patient with me!
