Mardi Gras! Complete!

She's completed!

Don't you just 

LOVE 

how happy this quilt is?

I did block the quilt

before it was shipped off!

The edges are not 

"wonky"

anymore!

(A technical term!)

Can we talk a little 

about the

binding?

Whew!

That was challenging!

This was tedious.  

The colors had to match.

It's NOT perfect!

But it was fun!

I LOVE a good challenge!

This was 

GREAT

fun to do!

AND...

totally frames the quilt!

So...

Mardi Gras! 

has been shipped to 

Machine Quilters Showcase quilt show

 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

This was a fabric challenge,

(The challenge fabric is the black and white fabric).

You could do anything you wanted,

size couldn't exceed 30x30,

and you had to use a recognizable 

amount of the fabric. 

Great fun!

Our daughter

got engaged last night!

Her fiance, Ryan,

proposed in a garden

 created in memory of his mom!

He planned this for when we,

myself and husband,

could come down to Apalachicola, Florida 

where they live.

It was so sweet!

Ryan's older sister said

both Mom's were there!

EXCITED!

for making this a family affair!

(Our son was the only one missing...

but he's working out of town...)

There was simply

NOT

enough time

 to do all the quilting

The background was quilted, 

the center of each block

and, stitch in the ditch on the 

ENTIRE 

quilt!

You can see the blocks are more

"puffy" then they should be.

(Yes, that's a technical term...LOL!)

But, 

this is still 

SO

VERY

EXCITING!!!

There is one quilt left to bind

 tomorrow...

Nothing like last minute!

(I had a bad back injury

that really put me behind...

I thought I broke a rib...but the Dr said no.  

It still hurts though...thought it would be further healed in 3.5 weeks. 

Maybe I'm just being impatient?...

NAH, NOT ME!!!)

We went to Disney in Sept.

Rain

was predicted each day...ugh!

The quilt is

all seams are stitched in the ditch!

Whew!

Looks much like the last picture I posted...

crosshatched the center of each block!

Guess when this has to be completed by?

HELP!

(It doesn't help I'm behind due to a back injury

that had me out and not able to move, 

nor breath well,

for 2 weeks.)

Now, I have to get into

HIGH gear!!!

Finally decided on a design for the background!

This was HARD!

I wanted to do feathers!

FEATHERS!

BUT...

this quilt would 

NOT

let me do feathers!

Any kind of feathers

It never looked right!

I just LOVE this design!

There will also be some crosshatching

on the boarder area.
