Dimensional Slow Stitching
(Hand Stitching)
Let me first say...
I AM NOT A HAND STITCHER!
LOL!!!
As a WonderFil Thread Educator I've had to learn
SLOW STITCHING,
or
hand stitching...
(that just seems like a NASTY word!)
Let me please tell you...
It's actually quit enjoyable!
WonderFil Threads carries
SUE SPARGO books,
wools,
wool kits,
AND...
MAKES SUE SPARGO THREADS!!!
Sue Spargo has a book called
"Creative Stitching"
(second edition)
and it's FABULOUS!!!
Every design is in step by step directions!
So, this is the book I've been working with
for the past year and a half.
My art group is doing a fun project and some of us
were going to do demonstrations on hand slow stitching
at our next meeting, (which was cancelled).
But I wanted to share some of the
DIMENSIONAL STITCHING
I was going to share with my group.
(The panel at the top of this post I quilted an bound,
That is what I'm working on.)
BLUE FLOWER
Woven Picot is what I chose to do on each petal.
This was fun, easy stitching,
and FAST results!
Each WOVEN PICOT is a little different
as each petal of a flower is different,
and it gave me a chance to play with this a bit.
Isn't it PRETTY!!!
Now...
As I usually will do...
Let's laugh at my imperfections...
Here's my mistake...
On the very LAST petal...
Can you see there are 5 strands of threads being woven through
to create the Picot?
You're supposed to keep them in stitched order!
LOL!
Can you see at the bottom right...
the last 2 threads have been used in the wrong order
starting at the top of the Picot!
Do I REALLY want to take all this out?
NOOOOO!!!!!
Let's see how it turned out...
A trained eye can see theres a mistake...
But...
I CAN LIVE WITH IT!!!
Don't add more stress to your life than there already is!!!
This is JUST a sample!!!
IT'S OK TO NOT BE PERFECT!!!!
(That's a lonely place, "Perfect"!)
As my daughter told me when she was 5 years old...
"Mommy, I can't walk on water."
That was a REAL wake up call!
I've worked on letting go of my need to be
"PERFECT"!
AND
23 years later...
I can live with imperfections!!!
AND
It's a happier place than "PERFECT"!
TRY IT!!!
Sew the pieces of life together,
They make a BEAUTIFUL quilt!
